The exam lessons sit in clear blocks: the early civilisations (3, 4, 6, 7), the Sultanate and Mughal period (9, 10, 12, 14), British rule and the national movement (16, 18–21), and the world wars and Cold War (23–25, 28). Studying block by block, with a simple timeline for each, works better than reading the book cover to cover. Pick your optional module early, because three of its lessons are in the exam.
Combining History 315 with other subjects
It is in Group C, which allows only one subject, because NIOS holds the exams of a group at the same time. Group C is Physics 312, History 315, Environmental Science 333 and Library and Information Science 339, so you can take only one of these. Transfer of Credit may apply if you passed it elsewhere in 2022 or later. Related: Political Science 317, Sociology 331, Psychology 328. To test a full combination, use our subject and fee checker.

Questions about History 315
Can I take History 315 with Physics 312?
No. History and Physics are both in Group C, and NIOS allows only one Group C subject. Their exams are held at the same time.
Is the 20th-century world part of the History exam?
Yes. World War I and the Russian Revolution (23), the inter-war period and World War II (24), the Cold War (25) and Changes in the Twentieth Century (28) are all exam lessons.
Which optional module should I pick in History 315?
Either is allowed. 6A (Evolution of the State in India) follows on naturally from the rest of the course. 6B (Culture in India) suits students who like art, media and culture. Decide before you start your TMA.
