Choosing NIOS is a big decision for any family. Here are calm, honest answers to the questions parents ask us most often about NIOS Class 10 & 12.
Is SWOT Academy part of NIOS?
No. SWOT Academy is an independent private coaching and guidance centre in Pune, not NIOS. NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is the official board that conducts exams and issues certificates. We help families with admission guidance, study support and exam preparation.
Who can take NIOS Class 10 or Class 12?
Students who left school, need flexible study time, are pursuing sports or arts, have health reasons, or want a fresh start after a setback. For Class 12, a recognised Class 10 pass is required. We'll gladly check your child's eligibility on a quick call.
How does admission work?
NIOS admissions are done online on the official NIOS portal in set blocks through the year. We guide you through choosing subjects, preparing documents and completing the form correctly, so nothing is missed.
How are the fees split?
There are two separate parts: the official NIOS fees for registration and exams, paid directly to NIOS, and SWOT Academy's coaching fee for classes, study support and guidance. We explain both clearly upfront, with no hidden charges.
What does SWOT Academy charge?
Our coaching plans are Basic ₹6,500, Premium ₹11,000 and Offline classroom in Pune ₹12,500. Home tuition is ₹750 per hour. NIOS board fees are separate and paid to NIOS directly.
Do I have to come to Pune?
No. We have a classroom at G-10, Ashoka Mall, Bund Garden Road, Pune, and we also support students online across India. Many families start online and visit us only if they want to.
What are TMAs?
Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) are subject assignments set by NIOS. They carry internal-assessment weight and must be submitted on time. We help students understand and complete them properly.
What about practical subjects?
Subjects like Science, Home Science or Computer have practical exams held at centres NIOS assigns. We prepare students for the practical work and record books in advance.
When are NIOS exams held?
NIOS holds public exams twice a year, usually around April–May and October–November. The exact dates are announced on the official NIOS website, and we keep our students informed.
Can I clear only the subjects I failed?
Yes. Under NIOS Transfer of Credit (TOC) and On Demand Examination options, many students can carry forward passed subjects from a recognised board or retake specific papers. We check what applies to your child.
Is the NIOS certificate valid?
Yes. NIOS is a national board under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Its Class 10 and 12 certificates are recognised for higher studies and jobs, on par with other boards.
